Trek in the Cordillera Huayhuash, Peru

Magnifficent Peaks of Huayhuash, Yerupaha and Shiula Grande, Peru

The Cordillera Huayhuash is a small, remote and compact mountain range to the south of the Cordillera Blanca. The trekking and hiking routes make a complete circuit of the range, and offer unequalled close-up views of majestic high peaks and glaciers and many large blue trout-filled lakes. The Huayhuash contains spectacular rugged peaks including the second highest mountain in Peru, Yerupaja (21,768feet) and Siula Grande (20,814feet)- the mountain made famous by the Joe Simpson's book and movie "Touching The Void.” We will visit Jo Simpson's base camp at the base of Siula Grande. If You have not seen the movie, here is the link: https://youtu.be/J9lRXpn8br0
This is a remote area yet stunningly beautiful, voted as one of the best treks in the world. You will not encounter crowds on this trektrek and there are fantastic photo opportunities every day!
If you would like to bring young kids, this can be done with addition of horses; please inquire with Marek for details and additional costs.
